Secrets To Talking On Camera, Brady reveals
I was speaking with a startup founder this week who had just launched a new product. And to accompany his product launch he had created an explainer video for his app with him talking on camera. And you know what he told me? He said it was scary talking on camera.
Here’s what’s interesting…this guy is older than me, he’s been in business longer than me, and yet he still felt intimidated in front of the camera. In his words, “It’s so silly. I’m just sitting in a room by myself. What’s the big deal?!”
To make a point…I sent him the first video I ever published online. And trust me, it was MUCH WORSE than his video. In my early videos, I continually tilt my chin up towards the sky while talking. What even is that? You can find this video too if you head to my YouTube channel (link in bio) and sort videos by “Oldest.” Just watch the first one in reverse-chronological older. You’ll get a good laugh out of it. I think I was 21 years old at the time. Just a baby.
I went on to tell my friend, “Look: I’ve spent thousands of hours in front of the camera recording. The only secret is that you get better with practice. Oh…and don’t tilt your chin up. There’s an actionable pro tip for you.”
