Reflecting on his beginnings, Theophilus credits his musical journey to divine inspiration rather than personal ambition. A pivotal moment came during his childhood when, captivated by a preacher singing on television, he was moved to make a vow to God.
“I still remember staying up one night as a boy, watching a preacher minister in song. I was overwhelmed by the Spirit and promised God that I would never sell my music,” he recalled.

Interestingly, music was not his childhood dream. Though he enjoyed singing, his true passion at first was drumming. In the early days, he humbly served as a choir member and later became a key figure within 1Spirit.
“I began as a singer but was drawn more to drumming. I spent much of my early years just serving in the choir and growing within 1Spirit,” he shared.

Today, as the team leader of 1Spirit and the Music Director of Peculiar Church of Glory, Theophilus emphasizes that 1Spirit is not simply a music platform—it is a divine assignment.
“1Spirit isn’t a music ministry. It’s a burden from the Father’s heart—to see His church pure, without spot or wrinkle. Music is simply the bait God placed within us to draw the church into this deeper calling,” he explained.

Looking back, Theophilus acknowledges facing significant challenges, especially during his time at the United Evangelical Church (UEC). His unconventional style and youthful exuberance did not fit the mold of the orthodox system, leading him to seek spiritual covering elsewhere under God’s leading.
“Honestly, my dressing style and vibrant Christian lifestyle didn’t sit well within UEC. I wouldn’t call it a conflict, but it became clear that God was calling me elsewhere for spiritual mentorship,” he said.
“The journey wasn’t easy. Traveling frequently, facing misunderstandings—but God kept helping,” he added.

Despite the demands that come with fame, Theophilus remains grounded, maintaining close ties with his old friends, many of whom are now co-laborers in ministry.
“I used to live very casually—shorts, easygoing life—just enjoying God freely. Public life has placed some restrictions on me, but thankfully, many of my old friends are still very much a part of the journey, serving together with me,” he said warmly.
