Ben Serugo and Chance Mbanza, known professionally as Ben & Chance, are a Rwandan gospel duo and married couple whose music and ministry have touched lives both locally and internationally. Renowned for their heartfelt compositions and harmonious vocals, they have become prominent figures in the gospel music scene.

Early Life and Musical Journey

Ben and Chance’s musical collaboration began after their marriage, discovering their complementary talents and a shared calling to spread the gospel through music. Their journey into music was inspired by their desire to share new songs of prayer with the world, as they felt it was their calling as children of God.

Before their union, both were active in various choirs and worship teams, ministering in different capacities. Their relationship blossomed during their time as students in Uganda, where they were close friends and sang together in several worship teams. This foundation laid the groundwork for their future as a gospel duo.

Daniella, however, started singing when she was very young, participating in children’s choirs, teenage choirs, and later ministering in the church choir during her university years. James, on the other hand, was not involved in music as a child but discovered his passion for it later on.

Their decision to sing as a duo has been fruitful, as they write their own songs together and attribute their success to their cooperation and mutual support. They are grateful for the positive reception their music has received, which has allowed them to reach many people and lead some to Christ.

In early 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, they launched the Ibihe Series, an educational drama series streamed on their YouTube platform. The series addresses contemporary family issues, particularly the rising divorce rates, aiming to restore harmony in families and society at large.

Their initiative was driven by the realization that many people spend significant time on screens, and they wanted to use this medium to deliver impactful messages. The Ibihe Series has become one of the most-watched local YouTube movies, resonating with viewers through its portrayal of real-life challenges and offering solutions grounded in Christian values.

Ben & Chance’s dedication to their ministry has garnered them admiration beyond Rwanda. Their music and outreach efforts have touched lives internationally, leading to significant recognition. Notably, they received a brand new car worth Rwf7 million from a Canadian-based fan of Rwandan origin, a testament to the profound impact of their work.
