James & Daniella are a Rwandan gospel duo and married couple whose union gave birth to a shared ministry of music. Their journey as musical partners began after their wedding when they discovered their individual talents were complementary — a perfect blend for gospel ministry.

“When we got married, we discovered that we had complimentary talents and decided to sing together, since we had new songs of prayer that we wanted to share with the world. We sing gospel music because it is our calling as children of God,” – James Rugarama.

This mutual revelation ignited their passion to minister together through song, birthing a unique duo whose music uplifts, encourages, and calls people to the feet of Jesus.

From Friendship to Ministry: The Story Behind the Voices

Although James & Daniella have only been married for four years, their relationship and musical connection began much earlier. They first met as students in Uganda, serving in various worship teams and choirs. Their friendship blossomed through their shared commitment to ministry, and for three years, they sang side-by-side in multiple choirs and worship groups in Rwanda.

“Our relationship started when we were students, living in Uganda. We were very close friends, and were in several worship teams. We sung together for approximately three years in choirs and worship teams in Rwanda, before we got married,” – Daniella.

Early Musical Roots and Growth

Daniella’s love for music started at a young age. She was actively involved in children’s choirs, teenage groups, and later ministered in her university church choir. Her voice was nurtured from childhood, and her experience prepared her for the stage she now shares with her husband.

James, on the other hand, did not grow up in music. Yet today, he stands as a gifted songwriter, singer, and guitarist, proving that God can raise worshipers from anywhere, at any time.

“We believe we made the right decision to sing as a duo, as it has always been part of our lives. We attribute our success to our cooperation and support for each other,” – James & Daniella.
