Pastor Tim Hughes Biography

Pastor Tim is married to Rachel; together they co-founded the Gas Street Church, headquartered in Birmingham. Founded in 2015, the ministry’s mission is to equip men and women with the right knowledge of God’s word and to create an environment for people to experience God.

Tim is the worship leader at Holy Trinity Brompton, but before then, he was the worship pastor at Soul Survivor Watford (a post now held by Beth Croft nee Beth Coulson) and strongly has the strong desire to empower gospel singers and worship leaders around the world. 

Together with his family, they moved to Birmingham in 2015. There they launched and now head up Gas Street Church. He is a member of Compassionart, a charity founded by musician Martin Smith, the front man of Delirious.

Ordination into Ministry

On the 29th of June, 2013, Tim was ordained as a deacon by Richard Chartres, the Bishop of London, after he completed his ministerial education at St Mellitus College, a non-residential Anglican theological college in London. 

A year later, after faithful service in the ministry, he was ordained as a priest by Paul Williams, Bishop of Kensington.

Rachel is the wife of Pastor Tim Hughes. They grew up together as childhood friends. They have been married for 20 years now. Together they have 5 kids. She is a professional Television & Media personality. She hosts her own series of “TBN Presents,” where she teaches powerfully on a series of kingdom principles and godly leadership. She has also worked on the staff team at HTB for several years, and has also worked for the BBC.

Celebrating their 20 years anniversary, Tim made a romantic post on his Instagram to celebrate his marriage.

Celebrating 20years being married to the remarkable and stunning @remhughes78 The last 2 decades have been such an incredible journey. Parenting 5 kids, serving in 3 beautiful churches … I couldn’t imagine doing any of it without Rach. She is the most passionate, courageous, generous and kind human being I know. She’s also stunningly beautiful. 😘 I don’t know where I’d be without you! You are still my favourite company and I’m more head over heels in love with you today than I was 20yrs ago. Personal life

Tim Hughes, born Timothy David Llewelyn Hughes, is the biological son of an Anglican vicar, he grew up in High Wycombe. His family moved to Birmingham when he was a teenager, when his father was appointed vicar of St John’s Church, Harborne. He studied history at Sheffield University and graduated in 2000.
